About the Trip

This is a unique trek thru the National Parks of Lapland with the Sami Pathfinder Lennart Pittja. In September the air is crisp and fresh, and the mountains are glowing with autumn colors. Lennart will guide you along his ancestor’s tracks thru Laponia, The World Heritage national parks of Lapland. You will experience Sámi life, handicraft and living culture. Visits too reindeer herding families and insights into the art of reindeer herding will be experienced. Wild life and traditional food is all part of the experience. Besides this you will also be staying at some very special mountain hotels.

About this Organization:

The company “Vägvisaren – Pathfinder Lapland” is owned by Lennart Pittja. He started the business as a small family company in 1995. “We work close with nature and are proud of our origin and our history. We wish to spread knowledge about Sami culture, but also how to enjoy being close to animals and nature. For reasons of sustainability and “Natures Best” we always find new trails, a way of not leaving marks behind us”.

This is a small, well-established family firm that works closely with knowledgeable and quality-conscious Sami guides. The week long hiking trips, where special pack reindeer carry a large part of the baggage, are carried out in the Stora Sjöfallet National Park or over the mountains to the Norwegian coast. Sami guides and local food provide a strong cultural dimension. Year round, Sami experiences are offered at Repisvare Sami camp. During the winter, the visits to the sod dwellings and storytelling about the Sami culture can be supplemented with a fast-paced tour in a reindeer sleigh. As their guest, you experience undisturbed nature, and the living conditions of the indigenous people in a natural and personal way. You can join them in a journey through the Sami culture, from ancient history to the modern life of today’s reindeer herders.
