Green Practices
As a leader in business, Hyatt Regency Boston is continually striving to improve our commitment to the community, dedicating ourselves to environmentally friendly initiatives, and making a concentrated effort to develop and implement green practices in our everyday operations.
In addition to the standard practice of recycling paper, cardboard, cans, and bottles, the hotel has instealled amenity dispensers in all guestrooms assisting in the reduction of waste, usage of plastic, and contribution to landfills while allowing the hotel to offer a superior product to our guests. We have an active food compost program, providing a better use of organic resources. As part of the hotel’s $10.5 million renovation, 97% of all paint used in the guest rooms and corridors is a non-toxis Zero Volital Organic Compound.
In addition to water conservation programs, over 95% of the lights are energy efficient and motion sensor light switches are installed in storage and meeting rooms to reduce energy waste. Each guestroom is equipped with a programmable digital thermostat, interfaced with the property’s Energy Management System, turned on at check-in and turned off when each guest checks out. All lighting in the guestrooms and corridors have been replaced with compact fluorescent bulbs.
