The Cedar House Sport Hotel was inspired by its setting high in the Sierra Nevada Mountains, nestled in the Martis Valley, just minutes from Historic Downtown Truckee and Lake Tahoe.

The Cedar House Sport Hotel fuses innovative architecture with the best of contemporary design, creating 42 rooms and suites in a hip European style. The lobby features a full bar in an atmosphere that stays true to its environmental themes – guests will be intrigued with the green roof and the unique usage of green building materials.

Throughout your stay enjoy 2 lift tickets to Northstar and 2 lift tickets to Squaw Valley.

About the Organization

At first the dream was romantic, induced from glorious visits of European ski villages throughout the Alps. There, hospitality felt different. The hotels were smaller and family operated. Personal service often meant that you were welcomed by the hotel owner – or better yet, offered to ski the region with the owner’s son, who just happened to be an Olympic champion. Perhaps the difference there was that we were invited into our host’s dream, experiencing a journey that connected us permanently to the region and to its people.

The Cedar House Sport Hotel came from a vision where two architectural styles fuse together, creating a bold new design that displays strength, structure and honesty to the materials used. Inspired by the mountains, yet enhanced by nature, our dream invites you to explore, and to experience daring combinations- both in life and in design. Connect yourself back to a region that inspirits discovery and the thrill of escape. Where people still embrace the gracious attitudes of days past. Green Practices

The Cedar House Sport Hotel promotes Green Design and Sustainable Development. We understand that design decisions can have a profound effect on the environment for generations to come. Environmentalism is a mindset that starts first with choice, followed by action and life practices.

The buildings are designed so that everything happens from the center of each building. As a result there is no plumbing on exterior walls for saving energy and freeze protection. The hotel uses a Rinnai tankless boiler system. Due to the design of the building there are very short footage runs from each hot water heater to each showerhead. Each building has 3 instantaneous hot water heaters for the potable water system and one Bideras instantaneous heater for the hydronic space heating system.

The Cedar House Sport Hotel has built a Green Roof over reception/check-in area. All of the cedar exterior siding and logs came from a re-forestation project. Everything used in all the interior spaces was installed and the doors of the building were left open for over a month to allow everything to outgas prior to occupation.
